Friends of the PMI Victorian History Library

Supporting the library. Connecting the community.

Every library needs friends.

The Friends of the PMI Victorian History Library are a community of people who support the PMI Victorian History Library and help connect it with the people around it.

The Friends manage the PMI Victoria History library bookstore and book sales, giving donated books a second life and raising funds that help grow the library collection. They also run the PMI Book Club, organise family history workshops, support events, share contacts and help introduce more people to the library.

But the Friends do more than support activities. They help strengthen the library’s place in the community by raising awareness, building connections and supporting its ongoing development.

Much of this work happens behind the scenes, but its impact can be seen across the PMI Library, from the collection and programs to the people who walk through the door.

This is what Friends do.

We help books find new readers.
We help stories find new listeners.
We help people find their way into the library.

Want to become a Friend?

Friends do not need library training or specialist experience. What matters is curiosity, goodwill and a willingness to be involved.

If you care about books, history and community, we would love to hear from you.
