The PMI Victorian History Library will once again be participating in the Australian Heritage Festival. We have expanded our program this year to include more events. Join local historian and Mayor of the City of Stonnington, Steve Stefanopoulos on a wander along Chapel Street exploring former department stores big and small. This walking tour will take approximately 2 hours. Professor Tim Entwisle talks about the Melbourne and Sydney Botanic Gardens which celebrated their 170th and 200th birthdays in 2016. The Prahran Mechanics’ Institute Victorian History Library (PMI) is the second oldest library in Victoria. It was founded in 1854 and was incorporated under its own act of Parliament in 1899. It is the only mechanics' institute in Victoria still governed by its own Act of Parliament. The Institute has a fascinating history.
