Professor Janet McCalman AC joined the PMI Victorian History Library as a Patron in June, we are very glad to welcome her to the PMI Victorian History Library Community.
Janet is an emeritus professor at the University of Melbourne and is the author of four award-winning social histories: Struggletown (1984), Journeyings (1993), Sex and Suffering (1998) and Vandemonians (2020). Her second book Journeyings, on the Melbourne middle class and their private schools, drew on the PMI collection that had been started by her father, Laurie McCalman.
