My contribution as a Board member and President has involved the following:
- contribution to a significant transitioning of the legal status, governance and management of the Library, development of a new Constitution, Board Charter and Strategic Plan
- a wide range of governance and management responsibilities such as financial reporting, annual budgets, strategic and operational planning, oversight of library performance and recruitment
- strong engagement with Library Board members, volunteers, users, other stakeholders and staff. This includes stakeholder consultation processes during the transition, active participation in member and user programs and events, advice and support on operational matters.
What I see as the key issues facing the PMI Library, relevance and sustainability in the following context:
- an increasingly digital world and public expectation of accessing information digitally
- financial uncertainty
- need to increase visibility and reputation as a key resource
- relatively small and ageing membership
- retention of staff and skills.
