For those who live nearby, a computer is available for authors to transfer manuscripts to electronic format, which can be burned to a CD.
In addition, Prahran Mechanics’ Institute Press can provide:
- referral to an appropriate editor, if required, and liaison with printers to ensure minimum printing costs
- design and layout of the publication, in consultation with the author
- allocation of an international standard book number, submission of cataloguing-in-publication information to the National Library of Australia, and submission of bibliographic data to Australian Books in Print
- provision of information regarding issues such as copyright, and ensure that legal deposit requirements are met. Copyright remains with the author.
- promotion of the publication using:
- a promotional flier, press release and order form
- a launch of the publication (if practical) at the Prahran Mechanics’ Institute Victorian History Library
- a feature article in the Prahran Mechanics’ Institute newsletter
- listing and distribution through the Prahran Mechanics’ Institute Press website
