Named: In 1841, a corruption of Aboriginal words daana warree meaning hilly country south of daana buong (Dandenong Ranges). There are two other meanings: naree naree woran meaning no good (in reference to water); and narre meaning she-oak and warren meaning ocean or water, i.e. creek water by she-oaks is no good. (Blake)
