Inter-Library-Loans

Inter-library loans from the history collection are available to libraries within Australia, and the loan period is six weeks (renewable free of charge).

We do not charge an administrative fee for ILLs. Instead, we ask libraries loaning materials from us to reimburse the cost of postage by sending us 50c stamps to the same value (we do not use inter-library loan vouchers as we don't borrow items from other libraries, we only lend our items to other libraries).

We reserve the right not to loan materials we consider too valuable. In such cases photocopying or scanning can sometimes be arranged.

Libraries may request an inter-library loan by fax (03) 9510 3393 or email the inter-library loans officer.

We are currently exploring the possibility of extending our inter-library loan service to historical societies. If you would like to read a copy of the proposal and/or if your society would be interested in taking part in a pilot project, please contact us.
