Location: At the foot of Mt Elephant, 42 km north-east of Mortlake, 42 km west of Cressy
Named: In 1839 after station owned by Lang and Elms. From Aboriginal word djerrinallum meaning either hill of fire or sea-swallow (i.e. a tern that flocks to salt marshes near the mount). When surveyed in the 1860s the settlement was previously named Toolirook for the nearby lake that was possibly named from an Aboriginal word toolibook meaning yolk of an egg. (Blake)
