Prahran Mechanics’ Institute again holds lectures along with other activities such as an annual history essay competition for secondary school students, tutorials in genealogical research skills, book discussion groups, and the annual Shinkfield Awards. |
The Institute has been the grateful beneficiary of partnerships with other organisations such as the Stonnington Library and Information Service, the Cinema and Theatre Historical Society, the Mechanics’ Institutes of Victoria, the Prahran and Malvern Historical Societies and the Department for Victorian Communities. The Institute is affiliated with the Royal Historical Society of Victoria and the Australian Library and Information Association, and the Victorian and Local History Collection continues to expand.
