Silver Trowel
The inscription on the trowel reads:

Presented to the Hon. Sir Alexander Peacock, KCMG,
Premier of Victoria on the occasion of
his laying the foundation stone of the
Prahran Technical Art School
24 February 1915.
Ernest H. Willis Architect
J.S.C. Wright Master Builder

At the time the anniversary gallery was created, this beautiful silver trowel had been lost and this photograph was all that remained. In February 2005 a City of Stonnington staff member found it in a safe which had been removed some years previously from the Malvern Town Clerks office. The safe had not been opened until a key was eventually located and the trowel was promptly returned to the Prahran Mechanics’ Institute.
